A hypothetical 7:30pm IST start is 2:00pm UTC on the same date. A hypothetical 1:00am IST start is 7:30pm UTC on the previous date, so date rollover matters.
What to check and why
Write the source date and zone alongside the clock time. Subtract five hours and thirty minutes from an IST time to obtain UTC. If the subtraction crosses midnight, move to the previous date. Conversely, converting UTC to IST requires adding the offset and may move to the next date.
Check whether a fixture page already displays your device's local time before converting. Applying the offset twice creates an error even if the arithmetic is correct.
